All about Bingham Rec

Bingham Rec gardening group

Many thanks to everyone who responded to the plea to keep the flower beds weeded, pruned and watered either every time they passed by, or by spending a couple of hours doing some solitary tidying. It is greatly appreciated.

We are now restarting our monthly sessions, dates below, and we are inviting volunteers to come along for all or part of that time.

Planned Schedule for 2021, all Saturdays 0930 – 12:00

  • 17 April
  • 29 May
  • 19 June
  • 31 July
  • 28 August
  • 18 September
  • 23 October

In view of the ongoing, hopefully improving, situation we are asking volunteers to bring:

  • their own tools (these could be a trowel, secateurs, hoe, spade, fork and dependent on what work you would like to do)
  • hand sanitizer in case you need it
  • Although we will be able to social distance and will be outdoors, you may feel more comfortable wearing a mask)

Thanks

Stephen Burl, Chairman of RNLI Croydon, advises the following.

Collection on Saturday 24th  April (lifeboat week) outside Gibson Butchers and again on 1st May.

Raising money this year for the new £5million to be built at Tower on the Thames. Old one health and safety issues so only 1/3 currently can be used.

I will also be doing a sponsored walk in Bingham Rec on 3rd May for 3 hours in wellies (sorry green not yellow) plus branch uniform and bucket from 10am to 1pm.

There is space for others to do the walk as well – £10 to register.  Max of 15, due to covid and council rules (so we don’t pay for use of park)

The following 3 Saturdays I will be selling plants from my home at 52 Sherwood road like last year for donations, we will have a tap and donate machine this year at all events
